Advanced training course: from diagnosis to therapeutic rationale

In 2025, we will mark the 90th anniversary of Irving Freiler Stein and Michael Leventhal’s report “Amenorrhea Associated with Polycystic Ovaries,” which was published.

The “Stein and Leventhal” Report from 1935 was fundamental and revolutionary. It was the first to describe a series of patients with the clinical triad of polycystic ovaries, signs of hyperandrogenism, and oligo/amenorrhea.

This report, published in 2003 by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), laid the foundation for the current definitions of PCOS.

Over time, scientific research on this condition has highlighted numerous gaps in the diagnosis and management of patients with PCOS. In this regard, the contribution of the scientific association EGOI-PCOS has been crucial in redefining the cornerstones of polycystic ovary syndrome, starting from the name of the condition itself to the reassessment of the therapeutic approach tailored to the characteristics of the patients.

In commemorating this anniversary, EGOI-PCOS is proud to announce a series of institutional and scientific training events that will take place in various cities across Italy throughout the year, dedicated to the latest scientific evidence and updates on a condition that still has much to be explored.
